An evergreen aromatic tree whose fresh leaves are used to produce ravintsara preparations. Cinnamomum camphora grown in Madagascar is often referred to as ravintsara. The leaves are glossy, green, and strongly aromatic, with a fresh, eucalyptus-like scent. Dried leaves produce a pale green to golden infusion with a mild camphoraceous, herbaceous flavor.
