Potential benefits
Throat and respiratory comfort with expectorant properties, soothing support for dry cough and anti-inflammatory benefits.
Ingredients
Verbascum thapsus leaf and/or flower (Mullein)
Origin
Europe, Asia
How it is traditionally prepared
1–2 tsp dried leaf/flower/8 oz hot water, steep 10–15 minutes and filter carefully. 1–3 cups daily.
Cautions and who should avoid it
Strain very well through a fine filter because the tiny hairs on mullein leaves and flowers can irritate the throat. Evidence for respiratory conditions is limited. Avoid inhaling the fine hairs or using contaminated plant material.
